Apr 16, 2017: Even as setting up of job generating industries seem to be impossible due to geographical and other constraints, it is well accepted that tourism industry in Tripura can really thrive. The State Government recently started chalking out a comprehensive plan for developing tourism infrastructure and to ensure tourists’ comfort.
Lush green hills, rare spices and wonderful archaeological footprints are hallmark of Tripura. Neermahal, a Palace surrounded by water and beauty and wonder of Chabimura enthral travelers while archaeological sites like Pilak and Unakoti display ancient culture in natural surroundings. For devotees, Tripureswari Temple, one of famous 51 piths, is a serene place. Spectacle Monkeys of Sepahijala and Bison of Trishna Sanctuary also attract a lot of travelers.
However, tourism infrastructure in Tripura is said to be at nascent stage and tourists’ comfort is really an issue. It is often alleged, basic lodging and boarding facilities in tourists spots are not satisfactory. In backdrop of poor facilities available in tourists spot, the State Government recently settled on drawing an integrated and comprehensive plan for augmenting availability of basic facilities in various tourist spots. It was stated in a financial review report submitted in last Assembly session, the State Government is working on a plan based on Rs 99 crore 59 lakh fund allocated by the Central Government. The fund will be used for enhancing and augmenting tourism infrastructure at tourist spots located in Agartala, Sepahijala, Melaghar, Udaipur, Amarpur, Tirthamukh, Dambur, Ambassa, Barmura circuits.
