Dharmanagar (Tripura), July 10: In a swift operation on Thursday afternoon at the ISBT premises in Rajbari, Dharmanagar, North Tripura, local residents apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian agents involved in illegal activities.
Noticing suspicious behavior, locals promptly alerted the Border Security Force (BSF) and courageously detained the suspects. The BSF arrived at the scene and took the individuals into custody. According to BSF sources, preliminary investigations confirmed that the detained Bangladeshi nationals had illegally crossed the international border to enter India, with assistance from the two Indian agents. They were apprehended while attempting to infiltrate Dharmanagar. The detained Bangladeshi nationals are:
Barna Molla (30), Comilla
Jina Seikh (35), Comilla
Rima Akhtar (18), Nayanbazar, Comilla
Riya Begum (35), Rajapur, Barisal
The detained Indian agents are:
Salam Uddin (21), Shanichara, Dharmanagar
Minal Hossain (30), Bishalgarh
The detainees are currently held at the Panisagar BSF camp, and legal proceedings have been initiated against them for violating international borders and illegal infiltration. Local residents reported a concerning rise in infiltration and human trafficking incidents in border areas of North Tripura, including Dharmanagar, causing widespread unease.

However, this incident highlights the effectiveness of public vigilance and cooperation with security forces in preventing major crimes. The bravery and responsibility of Dharmanagar’s residents foiled a significant infiltration attempt. The role of citizen awareness in safeguarding border security and national safety is highly significant and will serve as an inspiration in preventing such incidents in the future.
Notably, Tripura is witnessing illegal infiltration from Bangladesh causing serious concern. The BSF and security agencies are working in tandem to foil such cross border attempt. Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha too held several meetings with the security personnel emphasizing tight vigil along the India-Bangladesh border in the State.
In recent time, Dr Saha warned the infiltrators saying that Tripura is not a safe haven, any more. He also cautioned against fake aadhar card etc documentation.
