May 28, 2019: Fatal road accidents, tragic death of three persons including an infant and a child and heat wave related death of middle person cast widespread gloom and anger among the people.
In the early hours of Sunday, a Bolero car collided with a bus near Agartala and one of Bolero passenger died while seven other persons received serious injuries. Shortly after this accidents, one person was hit by an autorickshaw and died on spot. Both the accidents occurred under Amtali PS near Agartala. Local residents blame reckless driving and inefficacy of Traffic system as reason behind such sordid saga.
One middle aged business person died while he was working in his grocery shop today at around 10am at Teliamura under Khowai district. Attending Doctor suspected he died of sun stroke as the heat wave conditions prevailing across the State.
In an another tragic incidence, one women (40) and her two children of age 10 and 1 year burnt alive after fire broke out at victims’ house. Local people alleged, the husband of the woman and father the children, named Jhunu Debnath, is engaged in selling petrol illegally from his house. “As the owner of the house was illegally selling petrol to a customer, wife of the seller was passing by with a lamp from which fire suddenly broke out and engulfed the hapless women”, a neighbour explained and added as more cans of petrol and diesel were stored in the house fire rapidly spread out which triggered a blast of a gas cylinder. As fire engulfed whole house, the owner of the house fled away and two children unable to escape rage of flames, also charred to death.
Referring to illegal sale of petrol by Jhunu Debnath, Local people alleged, Police, Food and Civil Supplies department and other agencies were well aware of his activities but they never intervened for reasons very well can be gauged. The sale of illegal petrol and kerosene is a common practice in Tripura and administration virtually initiates no action against the unscrupulous elements anywhere in the State.
