June 3, 2017: Chairing a review meeting today, Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Sarkar asked the NHDICL authority to expedite the construction works of 2-lanning Agartala to Udaipur and Udaipur to Sabroom National Highway and complete the works by March 2018.
NHIDCL officials apprised CM of progress 2-lanning works and stated double lanning on 48.20 km stretch is on the progress and works in almost 11 km road was completed in May. Works of 25 km road improvement will be done by 2017-18 FY while 13.2 km road work is expected to be completed by end of 2018-19 FY, Officials stated and added, out of the total 73.71 km double lane work in between Udaipur and Sabroom, stretch of about 40 km road has been completed in May.
However, the Chief Minister asked NHIDCL to complete the double lane project by 2018 by mobilizing more resources. Besides, he also asked Chief Secretary Sanjeev Ranjan to write a letter to the Centre requesting it to add 500 km more road in the national highway map. At present the state is having less length of national highway in compare to other states.
Referring to meeting with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari , State PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury said the Union Minister agreed on the expansion of NH in Tripura”.
In the meeting it was also informed that an Ahmedabad based company- Dineshchandra R Agarwal has bagged the contract to construct bridge on River Feni having a length of 412 meters.
