Dhaka (Bangladesh) Jul 21: Death toll in China-made Bangladesh Air force training jet crash reached 19 till the last available reports. Among the dead, most are reportedly children.
According to Bangladesh media, with wounded persons number swelling rapidly, there is a serious dearth of blood, especially negative group blood. People with negative blood group have been urged to voluntarily donate blood.
A training aircraft belonging to the Bangladesh Air Force crashed into a school building in Dhaka on Monday afternoon, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Bangladesh Armed Forces has confirmed.
According to ISPR, the Chinese-manufactured F-7 BGI aircraft, used for training purposes, took off at 1:06 PM local time and crashed into the premises of Milestone School and College in the Uttara area of Dhaka around 1:30 PM.
Bangladeshi daily Prothom Alo reported that the crash caused a fire in the school building. The Fire Service confirmed at least one casualty as a result of the incident, and rescue operations are still ongoing.
The report further stated that four injured individuals were airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) by a Bangladesh Air Force helicopter for medical treatment.

A teacher from Milestone College told The Daily Star that he witnessed the aircraft strike the front portion of the three-story school building, which led to several students becoming trapped inside.
“Teachers and staff from the college immediately began rescuing the students. Army personnel arrived soon after, followed by firefighters who joined the rescue efforts,” the newspaper reported.
In a statement from the Fire Service, it was confirmed that members of the Bangladesh Army and eight units from the Fire Service and Civil Defence were dispatched to the scene to carry out rescue and firefighting operations.

Meanwhile, the Dhaka Tribune reported that fire units from Uttara, Tongi, Pallabi, Kurmitola, Mirpur, and Purbachal are actively involved in the rescue mission.
Videos circulating on social media platforms show injured individuals being rescued from the site. According to the report, they are being transported to various hospitals, including Uttara Adhunik Hospital, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital, Uttara Women’s Medical College, and Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College Hospital. In a condolence message, Chief Adviser of Bangladesh interim government Muhammad Yunus said, “I express my deep grief and sorrow over the tragic incident of casualties caused by the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force F-7BGI training aircraft at the Milestone School and College campus in the Diabari area of the capital today. The loss suffered by the Air Force, the students, parents, teachers, and staff of Milestone School and College, as well as others, due to this accident is irreparable. This is a moment of profound sorrow for the nation. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and instruct all relevant authorities, including hospitals, to address the situation with utmost priority. The government will take necessary measures to investigate the cause of the accident and ensure all forms of assistance.
