He emphasized that economic trade remains the primary bridge connecting the two sides. Speaking about his interaction with officials from the Land Port Authority of India (LPAI), the envoy said the two-hour discussion was aimed at addressing operational issues and described the meeting as productive and outcome-oriented.
Describing the India-Bangladesh relationship as organic, people-driven, and naturally evolving, Hamidullah expressed confidence in further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
As part of his Tripura visit, the envoy is also scheduled to inspect the progress of the Agartala-Akhaura rail link project and visit the Nischintapur railway station on the outskirts of Agartala.
Additionally, he will travel to Sabroom in South Tripura district on Sunday to visit the recently built “Maitri Setu.” Although the bridge was jointly inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the then Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina in March 2021, it is yet to become operational following a change of leadership in Dhaka.

On the final day of his visit, Hamidullah is expected to call on Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu.
Appointed as the High Commissioner to India in April this year, Hamidullah is a 1995 batch officer of the Bangladesh Foreign Service. Before arriving in Tripura, he visited the northeastern states of Assam and Meghalaya. (With inputs from IANS)
