Agartala, Aug 20: The Bangla Sanskriti Boloy, a well-known socio-cultural organization in Tripura, is preparing to celebrate its 90th consecutive Saptahik Sanskriti Haat (Weekly Cultural Haat) this Sunday, August 24, in Agartala.
The landmark occasion highlights the group’s persistent dedication to nurturing Bengali culture and encouraging wider community participation.
Looking ahead, the organization has already fixed November 2, 2025, as the date for its 100th consecutive weekly Cultural Haat, a milestone event that members believe will serve as a symbol of cultural resilience in the capital city.
Cultural Outreach Beyond the Weekly Haat
In addition to hosting the weekly gatherings, Bangla Sanskriti Boloy has consistently organized vibrant cultural programs across Agartala. Among its signature events is a grand Prabhat Pheri (morning procession) held every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
These initiatives, rich in music, literature, and performance, have significantly enriched the city’s cultural environment.
Expanding Membership and Strengthening Structure
To sustain and expand such large-scale efforts, the organization recently launched an extensive membership campaign, drawing in nearly 500 writers, artists, and social activists from different parts of Agartala.
As part of a structural overhaul, the city has been divided into nine administrative zones, each managed by a newly constituted Samsad Sahayak Committee (Parliament Support Committee). The branches include City South, Ramnagar–Jaynagar, Krishnanagar–Melarmath, Banamalipur–Shibnagar, Dhaleshwar–Bankumari, GB, Sadar East, and Natunnagar.
Each committee was formed through individual general meetings, a move directed by the organization’s Viswa Committee and carried out by the Agartala Samsad.

These branches have been entrusted with the mission of promoting cultural renaissance, fostering community solidarity, and supporting the upliftment of ethnic groups in their respective regions.
Social Responsibility as a Driving Force
Speaking to the media, Sebak Bhattacharjee of Bangla Sanskriti Boloy, highlighted the motivation behind the movement. “In today’s world of competing narratives, I can say with certainty that the progress of Bangla Sanskriti Boloy is shaped entirely by a sense of social duty.
The creation of branches and Samsad Sahayak Committees has generated immense enthusiasm among members, supporters, and cultural advocates alike,” he said.
Looking Ahead
With the 100th Weekly Culture Haat on the horizon, the organization is determined to further cement its role as a cultural torchbearer in Tripura. Its sustained initiatives underscore a broader vision of preserving heritage, promoting artistic expression, and uniting communities under the umbrella of shared cultural identity.
Bangla Sanskriti Boloy’s journey not only reflects the spirit of cultural preservation but also demonstrates how community-driven initiatives can shape the socio-cultural fabric of Agartala for generations to come.
