No arrests after ED raids four locations in West Tripura, Sepahijala
Agartala, Aug 26: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday carried out search operations at four locations across West Tripura and Sepahijala districts as part of its ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities.
According to preliminary information, the raids were linked to suspected financial crimes and other unlawful activities.
The operation covered Khayerpur and Kanchanpalli under Amtali police station, Camper Bazar under A.D. Nagar police station in West Tripura, and Nalchar in Sepahijala district.
Sources said the ED teams searched the residences of Mihir Debnath near Nabajagaran Sangha in Badharghat, Mampi Ghosh and Swarup Banik at S.D. Mission Road in A.D. Nagar, Haradhan Baidya at Nalchar, and Utpal Kumar Chowdhury at Briddhinagar in Khayerpur.
The searches concluded without any arrests, and officials are in the process of finalizing details regarding seizures, tripuratimes.com reported. Though no official statement has been released so far, it is believed that the raids are part of a broader inquiry into multiple financial scams.
Local sources in Melaghar and Sonamura confirmed that one of the persons whose house was searched, Haradhan Baidya, is a retired bank officer from West Nalchar village under Melaghar police station. Known as a well-regarded resident, Baidya’s home was searched for several hours on Tuesday.

During the operation, concerned officials reportedly questioned him and confiscated certain documents, though neither the ED nor the local police disclosed the nature of the materials seized.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Baidya’s son-in-law, currently imprisoned in West Bengal or another state, is implicated in a financial fraud. Investigators are suspected to have raided Baidya’s residence based on information obtained from his son-in-law.
The searches have triggered widespread discussion and concern in the Sonamura subdivision, where the development has drawn considerable public attention.
