August 08, 2017: In a twin move, Tripura Government attempts to revitalize health care delivery system and provide some relief to Kidney patients.
Left Government of Tripura today has decided to increase remuneration of ASHA workers. The move is expected to motivate ASHA workers further and health delivery system in rural areas will, henceforth, become stronger. ASHA workers play vital role in implementation health related projects. In last few years, institutional delivery increased noticeably and ASHA workers – fanned out in villages and remote areas – encouraged pregnant women to access modern treatment facilities.
Notably, infant mortality rate (IMR) in Tripura is much below than the national average and much fancied States like Gujarat. “Undoubtedly, ASHA workers in Tripura deserve kudos for bringing down IMR and successful implementation of immunization”, commented an officer of State Health Department. Reacting to State Government’s decision to hike remuneration, Sabita Nama – a an ASHA worker said, “Considering price rise of essential commodities, LF Government ‘s decision to raise our remuneration is a laudable step”.
In another decision, LF Government has decided to make dialysis for kidney patients free of cost in two hospitals where the facilities are available. “Free dialysis facilities will be available to all kidney patients – not only to APL or BPL patients”, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar stated today. A kidney patient in Agartala hailed the decision and said, it aptly demonstrates pro-people attitude of the government. Free of cost dialysis will lessen financial burden of kidney patients.
