August 10, 2017: Paying attention to the demand of the SSA employees, the State Government has sent a letter to the Union Human Resources Development Minister seeking his advice on the regularization.
In the wake of 5-day long hunger strike by SSA staffs and pressure from Opposition Parties, the State Government appears to move seriously and seek Centre’s suggestion relating to regularization of services of SSA employees. The State Government has a letter to the Union Government seeking Centre’s opinion pertaining to regularization of SSA teachers.
Addressing the Union Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javedkar, State Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty wrote a letter on August 7. In the letter Chakraborty mentioned the State Government’s stand on the regularization. He stated, the State Government is willing to regularize services of SSA teachers, however guidelines mentioned in the Right to Education Act and NCERT are preventing the State Government from regularizing the services. Informing the HRD Minister about hunger strike by SSA employees, Chakraborty seek views of the Central Minister and said, “In view of guidelines, we seek your opinions on the regularization issue”.
Under the banner of SSA Teachers’ Welfare Society, SSA staffs held fast unto death agitation from August 1 in Agartala and after obtaining an assurance from the Governor Tathagata Roy, agitators agreed to withdraw their agitation on August 5 after more than agitators fell sick. Opposition Parties – BJP and Congress extended their support to the agitation and demanded regularization of services of SSA teachers.
