Jailbreak in Dharmanagar: 6 Notorious Inmates Escape. Authorities Launch Massive Manhunt
Dharmanagar, Oct 1 : A jailbreak rocked Dharmanagar early today morning after six notorious inmates escaped from the district correctional facility, triggering serious concern across the region and prompting a massive security operation.
One police personnel sustained serious injuries while attempting to foil the escape and is currently receiving treatment at Dharmanagar District Hospital.
News of the breakout sent shockwaves through the administration. Senior officials, including the Northern Range DIG and top district authorities, rushed to the spot to review the situation.
A large-scale search operation was immediately launched, with strict checking at key points across the town and adjoining areas.
The Border Security Force (BSF) has also been put on high alert to prevent the fugitives from crossing the border.
Police sources confirmed that a special task force has been constituted to track down the escapees, while a detailed review of the jail’s security lapses is underway.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and promptly report any suspicious movement.
Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Debjani Chowdhury assured that the administration is leaving no stone unturned.
“We are fully alert and confident that the absconding inmates will be arrested very soon,” she said.
