Six BMS leaders expelled in Tripura for ‘anti-organizational’ activities
Agartala, Oct 20: The Tripura Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), one of India’s largest trade union organizations affiliated to the Sangh Parivar, has expelled six of its senior leaders, including former North District office bearers, for alleged anti-organizational activities and serious financial irregularities.
In an official notification issued by BMS Tripura General Secretary Tapan Kumar Dey, the leaders — Biplab Das, Rup Nandi (Rajat), Prabir Ghosh, Mahesh Dutta, Ratan Roy, and Anupam Dhar — have been permanently expelled from all organizational posts and primary membership of the BMS.
According to the notice, the decision was taken with the consent of both the Akhil Bharatiya and Tripura Pradesh office bearers after a detailed review of the conduct and activities of the accused members.
It stated that the expelled leaders were found guilty of multiple violations of the BMS constitution and principles.
The BMS alleged that the expelled leaders misused their organizational positions and unilaterally announced a new North District Committee, despite an existing full-fledged district body already approved by the Tripura Pradesh BMS.
The state committee had earlier issued a show-cause notice to them on October 4, 2025, but their reply was deemed irrelevant, unorganizational, and unsatisfactory.
The notification further mentioned that Biplab Das, during his tenure as North District Secretary, was involved in significant financial discrepancies. Transactions worth over ₹1 crore reportedly took place through district and union accounts without any financial report being submitted to either the district or state executive committees.
The BMS also accused the expelled leaders of failing to issue memberships to any registered union during the past six years of their leadership.
In a more serious charge, the notice alleged that the group conspired to file a false police case against the Tripura State General Secretary, State president, and the All India North-Eastern In-Charge of BMS (BPTMM), thereby causing severe damage to the image and reputation of the organization.
The state body also accused them of withholding organizational funds — including ₹9 lakh related to coupons sent by the Central BMS through the State Committee, and ₹4 lakh in coupons from the Bharatiya Private Transport Mazdoor Mahasangh — which remain unaccounted for.
In view of these grave violations, the six individuals have been expelled from all posts and responsibilities of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh.
They are also barred from using the organization’s name, symbol, flag, or any material identifying with it. Any such use will invite legal action.
The BMS further clarified that the North District Committee announced by the expelled members on September 29, 2025, stands cancelled and will not be recognized by either the State or Central Committees.

Copies of the expulsion notice have been forwarded to Ganesh Mishra, the All India Co-Organization Minister and North-East In-Charge (BMS); Debasree Kalai, the president of BMS Tripura Pradesh; and Ravishankar Appluri, the All India General Secretary (BPTMM).
The expulsion marks one of the most significant disciplinary actions within the BMS Tripura unit in recent years, signaling a strong internal push to reinforce organizational discipline and accountability, local BMS activists opined.
