September 14, 2017: The Union Minister for Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) D V Sadananda Gowda today met the Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in a courtesy visit in State Secretariat in Agartala. Gowda today reviewed implementation of several centrally sponsored projects in Tripura.
Addressing the media persons, Sadananda Gowda said, the revised cost of the Akhaura-Agartala new BG Railways project stands at Rs. 580 crore. Out of total 15.09 Km long rail line, 5.08 km is in India and remaining 10.01 km is in Bangladesh. Central Government has released the land cost of Rs. 97 crore to the State Government. He said, the land acquisition is under progress and likely to be completed by this month. Work will be started soon after monsoon. He also directed all concerned officers of the Ministry of Railways and officers of State Government to complete the work within stipulated time frame.
He also stated the Agartala-Subroom rail projects will be completed by June, 2019. The Minister said, the revised cost 114 km long Agartala – Subroom rail project stands at Rs. 3,373.79 crore and 60 per cent of total works has been completed. While both the Phase I and II of the project have already been completed, Phase III and Phase IV are to be completed by March 2018 and June 2019.
Gowda, who arrived at Agartala today, reviewed progress of several Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) in Tripura. He reviewed the progress of Support for Statistical Strengthening (SSS) Scheme, the status of MPLAD scheme and several mega Central Sector Infrastructure Projects costing Rs, 150 crore and above.
He also said, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation provides the requisite funds to the State Government for creating suitable infrastructure for strengthening the State Statistical Systems. The allocation for Tripura under the scheme is Rs. 15.99 crore and the scheme will be implemented in the state soon.
