Agartala, May 25, 2025: The Umakanta Mini Stadium in Agartala buzzed with energy on a bright, sunny Sunday morning as the Agartala Press Club transformed the football field into a lively gathering of media professionals for a friendly football match. Organized by the Press Club and managed by its Sports Sub-Committee, the event brought together journalists and media personnel in a spirited display of camaraderie and athleticism.
The match was formally inaugurated in the presence of key figures, including Tripura Football Association (TFA) Secretary Amit Choudhury, Agartala Press Club president Pranab Sarkar, Vice-president Chitra Roy, and members of the club’s executive committee. Adding to the festive atmosphere, Pranab Sarkar, who also serves as TFA president, swapped his usual attire for a jersey emblazoned with “Agartala Press Club” and played enthusiastically alongside his fellow journalists. Alok Ghosh, Chairman of the Press Club’s Sports Sub-Committee, also joined the action, showcasing the event’s inclusive spirit.
The friendly match was anything but tame, delivering a thrilling contest that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. The Agartala Press Club’s B Team clinched a hard-fought victory, with Kingkar Shil scoring the decisive goal to secure a narrow win.

Abhishek Dey, Convener of the Sports Sub-Committee and Joint Secretary of the Press Club, hailed the event’s success, stating, “Thanks to the cooperation of the TFA and the enthusiastic participation of our journalist-players, this friendly football match was a resounding success.” He extended gratitude to all participants and organizers for their contributions to making the event memorable.
