The sudden surge in the Covid 19 cases and fatalities, took a turn for the last two days with four more deaths being reported today. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in tweet said , while four persons died today, as many as 222 people tested positive. However, 142 patients have been released today.
If the four deaths of Monday as reported by the media is taken into account then total figure of deaths stands at 21.
On Monday the state government for some reasons failed to disseminate the information of four deaths- which was an important development-through Chief Minister’s social media handle–as was the practice. Education Minister Ratan Nath, however, gave information ‘selectively’ to a section of media. In absence of normal official channel information like that of CM’s twitter etc –as it happened at least twice in the past- media now will have to at large depend on the sources leaving enough space for misreporting and speculations.
It was learnt that out of four one was from AD Nagar in the city periphery while another was from South Tripura. The address of the other two could not be confirmed.
