Decks are ready for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone – III Conference in Tripura. The conference focused on the North Eastern states, is set to take place in Agartala on Monday, announced Tripura Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen in Agartala on Sunday (Jun 4).
Addressing a press conference held at the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Sen revealed that key officials, including Speakers, Deputy Speakers, and assembly secretaries from all North Eastern states, have already started arriving in Tripura since Sunday.
Meanwhile, the delegates from the North Eastern states, including the Speakers, Deputy Speakers, principal Secretaries, and other officials, arrived at MBB Airport on Sunday to participate in the Executive Meeting of the CPA India Region – III. The two-day meeting, set to begin on Monday, aims to address common issues affecting the North Eastern regions.
Expressing their expectations, Daimary, Speaker of Arunachal Pradesh PD Sona, and Commissioner and Secretary of Mizoram L Zote shared their enthusiasm for the executive committee meeting of the CPA, highlighting the importance of discussing shared concerns among the North Eastern states.
They expressed hope for fruitful deliberations and the development of viable solutions through the collaboration of all state representatives.
Speaking to the media, Sen revealed as the delegates were declared state guests by the Tripura Government, the dignitaries will also have the opportunity to explore various tourist attractions across the state.
On Monday morning, the delegates will visit Matabari, followed by attending the CPA Conference at the assembly conference hall at 12.30 pm. Arunachal Pradesh Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona will preside over the conference.
The Speaker of Tripura Assembly emphasized the positive impact of the Act-East policy introduced under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the entire North East has witnessed unprecedented development. The conference will primarily focus on crucial topics such as communication, connectivity, infrastructure, and National Highways. Additionally, discussions regarding the next North East CPA Conference's location and chairman will take place during the meeting.
Biswa Bandhu Sen also regretfully informed the media that the Speaker of Manipur would be unable to attend the conference due to the prevailing situation in the state. Tripura Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Paul and chief whip Kalyani Roy were also present at the press conference.
In the honour of the delegates, a cultural programme was organized at the hall of Hapania International Fairground in which along with the delegates, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and other dignitaries were also present.
