Attack on Tripura Cong chief: BJP condemns, demands action against culprits

Tripura State BJP unit strongly denounced and condemned the attack on Tripura Pradesh Congress Chief Pijush Kanti Biswas at Bishalgarh today. BJP also opposed the dawn to dusk strike on Monday called by the Congress in protest against the attack. BJP State Unit urged people to reject the bandh.

Meanwhile, BJP has also demanded legal action against the persons(s) involved in the attack incident.

A statement from the BJP state unit said the party does not believe in politics of violence and is committed to eliminate such unethical political culture.

However, based on the allegations leveled by Pradesh Congress that BJP backed miscreants were involved in the attack, the BJP state leadership sought detailed report from party’s Sepahijala district committee and Bishalgarh mandal committee.

The press statement said the state leaders had studied the report sent by local leadership and found that the ‘incident was a fallout of internal party clash of Congress’ and there was no link of any party leader or karyakarta with the incident.

Pradesh BJP chief Dr. Manik Saha and other state leaders strongly condemned the incident.

The BJP also opposed the bandh called by the Congress in the wake of the incident and urged the people to reject the strike on Monday.

In the meantime, the state unit of BJP alleged that the Congress was making ill attempts to defame the ruling party and the government following the incident- which was not at all welcomed in any sense.

The Congress, according to the BJP’s statement, was trying to pull out political benefits from the incident.
