Boost for Tripura Tourism: Water scooter for Dumboor lake
Even as Tripura is still grappling with Covid19 scare, State Government has started focusing on harnessing and augmenting facilities at tourists’ spots in Tripura. In this connection, new water scooter was launched in Dumboor lake by the Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy today which will be available for tourists in Mandirghat of Dumboor Lake.
In a small inauguration program there, the minister said, “The theme of this year’s World Tourism Day is ‘Tourism and Rural Development’. Keeping this in mind, we decided to promote tourism in the Dumboor lake by installing this water scooter facility.”
He further added that these water activities were seen elsewhere around the world but this is the first time such a facility had been inducted in this state. Very soon a helipad is going to be constructed in Mandirghat as well. We are also going to train unemployed educated boys and girls to become tourist guides so that they can become self-reliant.”
Speaking about the water scooter, Singha Roy said, “Two floating jetties have been installed so that child and elderly tourists don’t face any problems. Beautification projects of Narkel Kunja of Dumboor have been completed. In future tourists will have the facility of food and lodging. To make the Narkel Kunja more beautiful, seeds of various coconut breeds from different parts of the country will be planted”.
Tourism Department Secretary Kiran Gitte said, “The Central and State governments have together decided to revamp every tourism centre of the state as Most Attractive Destinations.” He said the tourism department was planning to make a tourism circuit around Udaipur’s Matabari, Amarpur’s Chabimura, and Dumboor Lake so that tourists can visit them together.
Tourism Corporation MD Ravel Hemendra Kumar in his welcome address various other projects being completed under the ‘Swadesh Darshan Scheme’. Mukhchari ADC Village Chairman Rangmala Chakma attended this program as well.
