CPIM leaders come under attack after a mask distribution programme

Miscreants unleashed assult on several CPI(M) leaders at Chankap market area in Kamalpur under Dhalai district in Tripura today. A CPI(M) statement said, Prasanta Debbarma, Saikat Ali and Ranjit Ghosh, Badarbhum Halam and some other local leaders went to a farflung village - Jaythum area under Kamalpur sub-division for mask distribution.

They completed the mask distribution programme successfully. However, after completing the event, when the they reached Chankap, a group of miscreants rushed to the spot and attacked them.

Prasanta Debbarma sustained injured after being assaulted by the masked miscreants.

The CPI(M) held the ruling BJP and IPFT responsible behind this and claimed it was a planned attack to threaten the opposing and suppress the opposition voice.

Injured Prasanta was later rushed to the local Primary Health Centre at Chankap. CPI(M) sources said, he would be brought to Agartala tomorrow for better treatment. The CPIM Tripura state committee condemned the matter.

In a separate incident, two Daily Desher Katha - CPI(M) mouthpiece - vendors came under attack today. They went to Chandrapur ISBT in Agartala to despatch the newspaper copies in 10 different spots of Khowai, Unakoti, North Tripura and Dhalai district through bus. A number of miscreants attacked them this morning, an FIR filed by the party’s mouthpiece said.

The vendors were asked not to send the papers and also threatened to burn the newspaper packets. Both two workers came back to the office and informed the newspaper authorities.
