Drinking water supply: AMC and Tripura Jal Board hold joint meeting

Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has focused on ensuring potable water supply to every household in the Central zone area.  

Tripura-Jal-Board-AMCA joint meeting was held between the Tripura Jal Board and Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Central zone here at Agartala corporation conference hall on Friday to ensure proper drinking water connections to every household in the Agartala Municipal Corporation’s central zone areas.

The meeting was chaired by the AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder. Deputy Mayor of the AMC Manika Das Dutta, AMC commissioner Dr. Sailesh Yadav, and officials of the AMC, as well as the Tripura Jal Board, were present at the meeting.

The AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder said a few complaints pertaining to the drinking water crisis in the central zone municipality areas were received. Based on the complaints the meeting was held on Friday. The meeting chalked out a detailed plan to address the issue and to ensure proper drinking water connection to every household in the municipality areas, he said.

He said that even as some households were connected with the pipelines, the drinking water supply facility was yet to be available. During the meeting, the concerned authorities were directed to immediately ensure drinking water supply to those households as well as cover the rest of the areas which are lacking behind.

The Mayor further said that a total of 23 numbers of Iron Removal Plants (IRPs) were sanctioned for installation and the work would start soon to ensure that every household in the central zone areas was connected with proper drinking water.  

Apart from ensuring piped water supply in areas under the AMC, the Government is also working to provide potable water supply to every household across the State within this year.
