Durga Puja in Tripura: Ashtami observed with gaiety and solmnity, Maa Tripura Sundori wears spl Jewelry

On the third day of five-day long Durga Puja festival, the auspicious Maha Ashtami was observed with gaiety and solemnity in Tripura. Devotees took part in the pujas and offered Anjali at the Puja Pandals. Maa Tripura Sundori at the Tripureswari temple was adorned with special jewelry on the Ashtami Tithi.

 

As per the tradition, Maa Tripura Sundori wears jewelry twice in a year – on Ashtami and Diwali. Today, since morning devotees visited the Tripureswari temple at Udaipur Matabari.

 

On the day of Ashtami, enthusiasm and solemnity among the people of all sections of society was noticeable. Amidst chants of Vedic hymns, people offered Anjali at Pandals across the State. However, the famous Kumari Puja at Dhaleswar Ramkrishna Mission in Agartala was not conduct for the second successive year owing to Covid protocols.

 

Notably, Kumari Puja at the Mission is one of the biggest attractions. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and his wife Niti Deb went to the Mission and offered prayer to Maa Durga in presence of several Maharaj and devotees of the Mission.

 

At Durgabari Temple in Agartala, Ashtami Puja was performed with due solemnity and devotees offered Anjali at this one of the iconic Temples of the State. According to Raj Purohit, Sandhi Puja will be held at the mid night of Wednesday and Thursday as Navami tithi starts.

 

Meanwhile, since evening, revelers hit the streets. People in jovial mood were noticed hopping around the Durga Pandals. Several clubs slashed the budget or organized Durga Puja in a smaller scale – however, people’s participation and fervor made this year’s puja a special one after Covid pandemic.

 

The third day of the five days Puja celebration went off peacefully without any reports of untoward incident in the State, till the report filing. However, a case of a fire incident was reported from Marachhara in Kamalpur area where one Durga Puja Pandal was completely gutted after fire broke out.
