Agartala August 20: NCC Police have made further progress in the investigation into the theft of a laptop from the Community Medicine office of AGMC and GBP Hospital. The police arrested another suspect and recovered five mobile phones during a follow-up operation.

The laptop theft came to light on August 17. Police received a complaint and registered a case at NCC police station on August 18 in West Tripura District. Investigators then launched a probe to identify those involved.

Laptop Recovered After Initial Arrest

According to NCC police station Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das, police first arrested a suspect in connection with the laptop theft. During the operation, the team recovered the stolen laptop, a mobile phone and a wristwatch.

Police then questioned the accused to gather information about other people who might have links with the theft.

The investigation subsequently led police to another suspect. A team led by SI Supan Das and SI Zainal Hossain conducted an operation and arrested the alleged associate.

Police said the second accused had five mobile phones in his possession. Investigators suspect that the phones came from different theft incidents.

Five Mobile Phones Recovered

The recovery of the five phones has expanded the scope of the investigation. Police are now checking the devices to establish their ownership and determine where they were stolen.

One of the recovered phones has reportedly been identified as belonging to a doctor staying at a PG girls hostel.

According to police, the phone was stolen from the hostel on July 31, 2026. Investigators recovered the device during the latest operation.

Police are now analysing the recovered phones. The process will help identify the rightful owners and establish links with other theft cases.

Police Probe Possible Wider Network
