On the final day of 2024, several senior IPS officers in the Tripura Police were promoted, reflecting their long service and dedication. Notably, Puneet Rastogi, an IPS from the 1995 batch, has been elevated to the DGP scale after completing 30 years of service as DIG. Meanwhile, A. Ramesh Reddy, a 2007 batch IPS officer, has been promoted to the rank of IGP.
Three officers from the 2011 batch, Prabir Majumdar, Ratiranjan Debnath, and Sanjay Roy, have advanced to the rank of DIG. Moreover, Subrata Chakrabarty and Dilip Roy have been promoted to Senior Superintendent of Police (SP).
However, one officer from the 2011 batch, Sankar Debnath, was also slated for promotion to DIG, but this was postponed due to an ongoing inquiry.
All these officers, including Sankar Debnath, Prabir Majumdar, Ratiranjan Debnath, Sanjay Roy, Subrata Chakrabarty, and Dilip Roy, are from the 1998 batch of the Tripura Police Service (TPS). Krishnendu Chakravertty also belongs to the same batch and had already been promoted to DIG. He is currently managing multiple roles, including responsibilities within the Special Branch.
Notably, the Tripura Police have experienced a significant shortage of senior officers in recent years, leading to individual officers overseeing multiple departments. These long-awaited promotions are anticipated to alleviate the burden on senior leadership, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of police administration in the state.
