Eye on social empowerment: CM launches three schemes

The state government is battling to combat Covid19 pandemic as well as working to attain goal of holistic development. The State Government has recognized role of Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers in ensuring empowering girl child in our State. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar said this after launching three social schemes in Agartala today.

The Chief Minister distributed smart phones among Anganwadi workers, launched Mukhyamantri Matru Pusti Uphaar Yojana and also inaugurated Tripura Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan.

While launching Tripura Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan, the Chief Minister has felicitated topper girls of Madhyamik Exam- 2020 and meritorious students of Govt-run Homes.

“Anganwadi workers are given incentive of monthly Rs. 500 and internet charge of Rs. 200. The 10278 who will smart phones include 9911 Anganwadi workers and 367 supervisors. The expenditure for this scheme will stand at Rs. 8,31,96,250 and for incentive and internet charge, the expenditures will be Rs. 49,55,500 and Rs. 20,55,000 respectively,” the Chief Minister told the gathering.

“We are distributing smart phones among 10,278 Anganwadi workers and supervisors so that that can share all the details with the highest authority in a centralized system. We have lost many sisters (pregnant women) in the state due to delay in reaching information—it can be seen in the old data,” he said.  

On Mukhyamantri Matru Pusti Uphaar Yojana, Deb said, pregnant women would be given nutritious food packets four times during pregnancy at a cost of Rs 500 per expectant mother. For this around Rs eight crore would spent.

Speaking at the programme, the Chief Minister said the state registered improvement in Fertility rate, infant mortality rate, maternal death rate and fight against Tuberculosis but the government is working to drop the numbers at zero. “The achievements have been possible due to active role of the Anganwadi and ASHA workers,” he said.

Referring to Tripura Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan, he said the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan covered only South Tripura district so far and improved the gender ratio. Before implementation of the scheme in South Tripura, the number of females per one thousand males was 951 and the ratio increased to 968 after implementation of the scheme.

The state government has introduced Tripura Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan at its own to cover seven other districts-- the annual expenditure for this purpose would be Rs. 70 lakh, he said.
