Fatally thrashed Prasenjit's family meets SP, demands justice

Family members of a youth who was fatally assaulted by some people on the early morning of December 19 last at GB Bazar in Agartala, met in a deputation on Thursday at the office of police superintendent West Tripura seeking justice for the deceased. 

 

The deceased youth, Prasenjit Saha hailed from Kashipur near Agartala. According deceased’s family members Police had arrested two persons in connection with assault that ultimately caused his death.

 

However, family members also claimed, there are more persons involved in the incident who are roaming around freely. Victim’s family members urged the SP of the West district to expedite the investigation and arrest the all accused.

 

Late Prasenjit’s family members argued that CCTV footage and media reports clearly captured the faces of persons who assaulted Prasenjit.

 

“Several news channels telecast the whole incident. Faces of the persons those were involved were shown in news channels. CCTV footage also provided crucial evidence. Based on all these, Police arrested two persons – however, more are yet to be arrested. We want justice for Prasenjit – and to ensure that no other youth meet such an unfortunate end”, deceased’s family members said.  

 

Giving details of the incident that took place, deceased Prasenjit’s brother said, Prasenjit came out of home in search of work in early morning of December 19 last and landed at GB Bazar.

 

“After reaching GB Bazar, Prasenjit might have been fallen sick and local businessmen mistook him as a thief. A group of people then fatally thrashed my brother”, deceased brother claimed.

 

Continuing further, he narrated their agonizing search for Prasenjit which ultimately ended at GB Hospital morgue. “We went to every police station of the city and its peripheries. And, the search ended up at the morgue of GBP hospital”, the brother of Prasenjit said.
