The Prime Minister outlined India's vision for good health, encapsulated in the concept of "One Earth, One Health." He expressed his satisfaction at the establishment of the World Health Organization's first global centre for traditional medicine in India, recognizing the significance of traditional healing practices. Furthermore, Modi applauded the international recognition of millets through the International Year of Millets, highlighting their nutritional value and importance in achieving global food security.
Addressing the global crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Modi stressed India's unwavering commitment to international cooperation. He proudly stated that India had supplied nearly 300 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to over 100 countries, with a particular focus on supporting nations in the Global South.
Highlighting India's achievements in healthcare accessibility, affordability, and availability, the Prime Minister cited notable examples such as Ayushman Bharat, the world's largest health insurance scheme. He also emphasized the significant expansion of health infrastructure in the country, along with efforts to improve sanitation and provide safe drinking water to millions of families.
Recognizing the diverse nature of India, Modi proposed that the country's approach to health could serve as a model for other nations. He urged the international community to adopt an approach that works in tandem with the scale of their own diversity, thereby enhancing health outcomes for all. Additionally, the Prime Minister expressed India's willingness to support the World Health Organization in similar endeavors aimed at low and middle-income countries.
Taking the opportunity to congratulate the World Health Organization on completing 75 years of service to humanity, Modi expressed his confidence in the organization's ability to set ambitious goals for the next 25 years as it approaches its centenary milestone.
