International Webinar on Climate Change advocates for Joint responsibility

In the present situation of environmental crisis and increasing habitat loss, the only way for mitigation of environmental crisis is sustainable development.

Climate-ChangeOn June 23, 2021, Global Forum for Sustainable Rural Development (GFSRD) partners with Nistarini College, Purulia, West Bengal and Agarwal Kanya PG College in Gangapur City, Rajasthan along with other sixteen partner associates of the ICNC to organize an International Webinar on Ecological Restoration as a part of the United Nations programme of a Decade of Ecological Restoration (2021-2030) for providing sustainable development worldwide.

In this Webinar, the Chief Guest was Dr. Dipak Kumar Kar, Honourable Vice- Chancellor, Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, Purulia, and the Guests of Honour were Dr. Subal Ch. De, President, G.B., Nistarini College and.O.P .Gupta, President, Agarwal Sikshan Sanstha.

The welcome address was delivered by Dr.Indrani Deb, Principal, Nistarini College, Purulia and Dr. Satya Prakash Mehra, Principal, Agarwal Kanya Mahavidyalaya coordinated the programme. Special Guest, Dr. Jayanta Choudhury, Associate Professor, NIRDPR-NERC, Government of India gave a speech on sustainable development and social responsibility for environmental protection. He motivated students and encouraged them to take action for environmental protection. The Resource Persons joined from four different continents - Asia (South Korea), Europe (Scotland, UK), and North America (USA) and Africa.

Dr. Dai-Yeun Jeong from South Korea, Director of Asia Climate Change Education Centre and Emeritus Professor, Jeju University, delivered his presentation on Climate Change and Environmental Sociology. Dr.Grace Yoxon, Director, IOSF, Scotland gave a presentation on Ecological restoration and habitat loss, particularly on the endangered species, the badger. Premilla Dixit Nag, from Las Vegas, USA, a global Climate and environmental activist delivered a speech on environmental protection. Adapoe Margaret Minika from Camroon, Africa- Environmental steward of Global Peace Let’s Talk (GPLT) gave a speech on the current situation of Climate Change in the African Continent and its problems. Dr. Mohinder Slariya from Government College Chamba, Himachal Pradesh gave a presentation on environmental sociology and climate crisis.

More than 1000 participants mainly Faculty members and students got a clear understanding of the present problems of the environment and its mitigation. The message of this webinar seems to be to think globally and act jointly.
