Jal Jeevan Mission : Rs. 614 crore sanctioned for Tripura

The Ministry of Jal Shakti has sanctioned Rs. 614 crore for Tripura under Jal Jeevan Mission 2021-22. On Friday last, the first instalment of Rs. 142 crore has already been released.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has shared the update on his official Twitter handle and claimed that the amount is four times higher than the previous year.

As the state government has set its target to ensure drinking water facility to every household by December 2022, this fund would be utilized for providing water connections to 3 lakh rural families, the Chief Minister mentioned in his post. He also thanked the Prime Minister and the central government for sanctioning the fund.

In the meantime, as many as 2,29,915 farmers of Tripura have received the eighth instalment of Rs. 42.36 crore as Prime Minister Narendra Modi released direct benefit transfer to the bank accounts of 9.5 crore farmers across the country under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

In a separate social media post, the Chief Minister has extended his gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of the farmers of Tripura.

He said, “2,29,915 farmers of Tripura have received Rs. 42.36 crore as the eighth instalment. So far, an amount of Rs. 315.27 crore has directly reached the bank accounts of the farmers in Tripura.”

The Chief Minister feels the scheme- PM Kisan Samman Nidhi would bring the farmers of the whole country including Tripura in a new direction.
