Prime Minister Narendra Modi has showered praises on the bamboo-made water bottles of Tripura and some other parts of the North East in his popular Man Ki Baat programme on Sunday. He appreciated efforts of bamboo artisans in making such high-quality products and also spoke on the making process that imparts medical properties.
Addressing the country- men in Man Ki Baat, the Prime Minister said, “You surely know of Bamboo which grows abundantly in the North East. Now, using the same Bamboo, artisans of Tripura, Manipur and Assam have started crafting high quality water bottles and Tiffin-boxes. If you glance at the craftsmanship of these bottles, you will not believe that Bamboo can be used to create such fine products. Moreover, these bottles are eco friendly”.
He added, “Before actually making them, the Bamboo is first boiled, adding Neem and other medicinal shrubs. Thus, these bottles also acquire medicinal value”.
It may be noted, few weeks ago, Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon set the twitter abuzz after she expressed her interest in purchasing this unique product from Tripura. Her tweets, gave a massive boost to the bamboo artisans of the State. In fact, Raveena Tandon placed online order for some of the bamboo made bottles. After products were delivered to her, Raveena Tandon was in all praise of the quality of the products. Appreciation from her gave a lot of encouragement to artisans of the State.
Now as the Prime Minister mentioned beauty and utility of Bamboo water bottles etc, in his Mann Ki Batt programme, the Bamboo craftsmen of Tripura, Manipur and Assam will get a major morale booster and dedicate themselves into more innovation creations, sources said.
Meanwhile, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has extended his gratitude to the Prime Minister for highlighting the story of Tripura’s Bamboo made water bottles at Mann Ki Baat programme. “........It will definitely boost the morale of our bamboo artisans to work with more dedication. Our artisans are working to strengthen Vocal For Local initiative,” the Chief Minister said in a tweet.
