People of Boxanagar, Dhanpur responded positively, rejected vote bank based divisive politics: Tripura CM

By-polls in minority-dominated Boxanagar and Janajati-dominated Dhanpur Assembly constituencies were crucial for the BJP even as the results would have no impact on the incumbent government’s status, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha adding that by-poll results reflect people's faith in Modi-led BJP's inclusive development and rejection of vote bank based divisive politics.   

Addressing a press meeting after the announcements of the by-poll results, Dr Saha said, “Massive victory of BJP’s Toffajal Hussain from the minority-dominated constituency in Boxanagar reflects people’s renewed confidence in the BJP. The party leaders and activists successfully conveyed the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding inclusive development and the State government's unwavering initiatives to this end. People responded positively to our calls, rejecting the divisive politics”.

Referring to the considerable increase in votes polled for BJP’s Bindu Debnath, the Chief Minister said BJP’s increasing influence among the Janajati people is evident in the result.

 He also pointed out the results in the two politically significant constituencies would have positive ramifications on upcoming Lok Sabha Polls.

In his congratulatory message, Dr Saha attributed the landslide victory of the BJP candidates to people’s immense confidence on BJP, relentless efforts of party’s State leaders, Ministers, MPs, MLAs and activists.

He also thanked the Election Commission of the State, Poll persons and others involved in the polling process for peaceful and smooth conduct of the bye-polls.

“The poll process was peaceful. The elections were held in true ‘festive spirit’. This is an instance before the entire nation and inspire us to hold elections in future in such noble spirit”, he commented.

When asked about CPIM’s allegations of ‘rigging’, Dr Saha vehemently refuted the charge saying that people, in an outright manner, rejected the CPIM in the bye-polls.  

 Addressing the media, State president Rajib Bhattacharjee also thanked the people of Boxanagar and Dhanpur. He also hailed the efforts of the Chief Minister, other Ministers, State BJP leaders, MPs and MLAs for the twin success. Bhattacharjee extended heartfelt gratitude to party activists, as well.

In today’s press meeting, Apart from Dr Saha and Rajib Bhattacharjee, ex-Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, two winning candidates – Tofajjal Hussain and Bindu Debnath along with BJP’s spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty were present.
