Rozgar Mela at BBMC in Agartala Attracts Over 120 Candidates for Job Opportunities

Bir Bikram Memorial College (BBMC), in collaboration with the Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura, organized a successful job placement fair, "Rozgar Mela," on its campus.

The event, aimed at providing employment opportunities to students and fostering industry-academic collaboration, saw a participation of 123 candidates from both final-year and passed-out batches.

The Rozgar Mela, held on the BBMC campus, featured four companies—Pran Beverage, TalkEng, Roy Legal Consultancy, and Longtarai Guru Masala—offering more than 100 vacancies in various sectors.

The selected students are expected to receive salaries ranging from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 25,000, depending on their roles and the companies' policies.

Rozgar-mela-bbmc-agartalaThe event commenced with an inaugural session chaired by BBMC's Principal, Dr. Ratan Deb, who emphasized the need to bridge the gap between academia and industry. In his speech, Dr. Deb detailed the recruitment process and highlighted the importance of developing relevant skills that align with industry demands.

Dr. Basudeb Bhattacharya, the coordinator of the Placement Cell at BBM College, welcomed the attendees and elaborated on the significance of such initiatives. "Rozgar Melas are pivotal in empowering students by providing them with direct access to employment opportunities," he said.

Dr. Bhattacharya also emphasized the role of educational institutions in preparing students for the job market by enhancing their employability skills.

Additionally, Dr. Abhijit Bhattacharya, Secretary of the Teachers Council at BBM College, shared his insights on the importance of these placement drives, expressing hope that more companies would participate in future editions of the Rozgar Mela.

It is heartening to see our students actively engaging with potential employers. Events like these not only provide employment but also help students understand industry expectations, he remarked.

Representatives from the participating companies conducted interviews and offered guidance to the students.

They provided valuable tips on how to excel in interviews and discussed the skills required to succeed in their respective industries.

The Rozgar Mela concluded on a positive note, with many students expressing optimism about their career prospects.

The college authorities are hopeful that more such events will be organized in the future, benefitting more students and contributing to the economic growth of the region.
