Second Covid Vax Dose: Tripura working to meet target within stipulated time
The Tripura Government has accorded public health a priority and is implementing cluster of plans to administer second doses of Covid vaccine so that like the first dose, the State can meet the target within the stipulated time. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said and made a strong appeal to the people, who already got the first jab, to take the second dose in time.
He was addressing a special vaccination drive organized by Ramnagar Sporting Club in collaboration with Agartala Club Forum on Monday. The special drive is going on in ten clubs in the city.
The Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Health, said public health is a priority sector for the government. To ensure second dose to all in a speedy manner, he said, the state government took special initiatives.
According to Deb, 102 percent vaccination (first dose) has already been done in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area. The percentage crossed the target in the AMC area as many of the people who are from other places took vaccine there, Deb said.
Deb also acknowledged the role of Agartala Club Forum in this mission. He said a good number of clubs linked with the Club Forum extended support to the government for the vaccination drive.
The Chief Minister said the Covid situation is under control in Tripura but infection is still present in some neighbouring states. In such a situation, the people need to take the vaccine in time and follow the Covid appropriate behaviour.
Principal Secretary (Health) J.K. Sinha, who accompanied the Chief Minister in the programme, said due to timely vaccination of people in Tripura, the Covid death rate in the state is less as compared to other states.
Tripura Mission Director of NHM- Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal, chairman of Club Forum’s advisory committee Sanjay Paul, joint convener Pranab Sarkar, secretary and president of Ramnagar Sporting Club were also present.
