Tripura: 73rd BN Mullick Police Football Championship Finals Set for Thrilling Showdowns
The 73rd B.N. Mullick Memorial All India Police Football Championship, hosted by Tripura Police, is poised for an electrifying conclusion as the finals approach. The women’s final on Thursday will see Assam Rifles lock horns with SSB, while the men’s final promises a gripping contest between CISF and BSF.
Now in its climactic phase, the tournament has witnessed fierce battles, with teams proving their mettle through group stages and knockout rounds - pre-quarterfinals, quarterfinals, and semifinals - to earn their place in the spotlight.
On Wednesday, the semifinals in the men’s category delivered high drama. At 2:30 PM, CISF secured a hard-fought victory over CRPF in the first men’s semifinal, clinching the win by a solitary goal. Despite taking an early lead, CISF faced relentless pressure from CRPF, who pushed until the final whistle to level the score but couldn’t break through.
Later, at 7:00 PM, BSF dominated Punjab Police in the second semifinal, sealing a convincing 2-0 triumph to advance to the final.
The action continues on Thursday at Umakanta Mini Stadium, where the men’s third-place playoff kicks off at 9:30 AM. CRPF and Punjab Police, the two semifinal losers, will battle it out for bronze.
The tournament will reach its grand finale on March 7 with a vibrant award ceremony in the afternoon at the same venue, celebrating the champions. Adding to the excitement, a special exhibition match is slated for 2:30 PM that day, pitting the All India Men’s Police Team against the All India Men’s Central Armed Police Force Team in a showcase of skill and camaraderie.
