Tripura Assembly Sees Protest Walkout by Opposition Amid Motion Celebrating BJP's Win in LS

The Opposition parties, CPIM and Congress, staged a walkout protesting against the Congratulatory Motion on the 2nd Day of the ongoing Monsoon session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.  

Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Biswasbandhu Sen moved a Congratulatory Motion on behalf of the House conveying congratulations to every electorate, contesting candidates and winning Members of Parliament who participated in the 18th Lok Sabha election this year.. 

While the MLAs of the Treasury Bench raised rousing slogans hailing the victory of the PM Modi-led BJP in the Lok Sabha polls, Opposition MLAs ran towards the well shouting slogans against the ruling regime at the State and Centre.

Amidst slogans and counter slogans by the ruling and opposition MLAs, the Speaker of the House continued to readout the congratulatory note. 

At last, the CPIM and Congress MLAs walked out of the House protesting against the motion. 

However, the opposition MLAs re-entered for the Reference Period Notices. 

Earlier, the MLAs of the treasury and opposition MLAs were engaged in intense question-answer session. 

Several issues relating to Tourism, Labour Department, Industries and Commerce, Transport and Forest Department were raised during the Q&A session.

In reply to a question, Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury informed the House that a plan to set up way-side amenities along the NH across the State is underway. 

Meantime, Forest Department Minister Animesh Debbarma said, some high-way toilets within three months at several places along the NH.
