Tripura boy shines in National Para Swimming Championship

Binit Roy of Umakanta School has brought glory of Tripura in Sports - National Para Swimming Championship. He lost one leg in a road mishap in 2011 after he was hit by a truck while walking in road. But, the accident could not tame the indomitable spirit of Binit.

After successfully completing Madhyamik Examination, Binit is now studying in science stream in Umakanta School in Agartala.

 

Recently, he took part in the ‘XXII-National Para Swimming Championship, 2022’. The Champonship was conducted by Paralympic Committee of India and was hosted by Paralympic Association of Assam. He competed in Junior Boy’s category which was held in Guwahati on November 11-13 last.

 

In the Championship, Binit secured the 1st position in the event of 50 meter Backstroke and 100 meter Breaststroke. Also, he secured the 2nd position in the event of 100 meter Back-Stroke in the XXII-National Para Swimming Championship, 2022.

 

Biswajit Roy and Sikha Sarkar Roy are the proud parents of Binit.

 

As the report of his success in the  XXII-National Para Swimming Championship, 2022 came to the fore, congratulations started to pour in. His classmates as well as teachers of Umakanta Academy hailed his determination and congratulated him for his success.

 

Binit has made Umakanta Academy and people of Tripura proud and he will inspire others to excel beating the odds, opined the sports lovers.
