Tripura boy Abhranil Saha shines in World Yoga CupDespite the absence of government support, Saha has consistently excelled in yoga, earning accolades at the block, sub-division, district, state, and national levels.

His national recognition includes a silver medal at the WYSF competition, as well as a second-place finish in the NCERT yoga competition at the state level.

The World Yoga Cup saw 12 other competitors from Tripura, with four of them earning awards across various events. Among them, Abhranil’s victory in the Traditional Junior Team category for ages 16 to 18 stands out.

In a phone interview following his win, Saha expressed his gratitude, acknowledging the role his family has played in his success:
"I am very happy with this success. My mom, dad, and sister always inspire me. I am delighted to give value to their hard work."

While Saha’s achievements highlight his talent and dedication, they also underscore the challenges faced by athletes in the region who lack institutional support.

His family has now called for government assistance, hoping to provide him with the resources necessary to continue competing at the highest level.

The success of Abhranil Saha has sparked a conversation in Sabroom about the need for greater investment in local sports talent.

According to local sports lovers, Saha's victory not only reflects his hard work but also serves as a reminder of the untapped potential in areas like Sabroom, which could benefit from more support and recognition for emerging athletes.

"As Saha continues to build on his success, the hope is that his story will inspire both government and community action to better support young athletes from underserved regions", local people opined.
