Chhat Puja celebrations commenced in Tripura with great enthusiasm and religious fervor. After Kharna on Wednesday, it was the third day of the Chhat Puja on Thursday. Devotees offered Arghya (a ritual offering) to the Sun God with fruits and other items while standing in water at sunset.
Devotees prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of their families. Various water bodies in Agartala, including Rani's Pond, Lakshminarayan Bari Dighi, College Lake, and Amtali's Kuri Pond, witnessed a large gathering of devotees this afternoon.
Women from households, observing a fast, typically perform this Arghya offering. Tomorrow morning, the fast and puja will conclude with another Arghya offering to the Sun at dawn while standing in water.
Notably, residents of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh living in the state have participated enthusiastically in Chhat Puja.
Meantime, President Droupadi Murmu extended her greetings to the nation on the occasion of Chhat Puja.
In a message, she said Chhat Puja is one of the oldest festivals in the country and a vow of Sun worship. She further mentioned that the festival honors the unique gifts of nature, rivers, and ponds, and purifies the mind and soul through rigorous fasting. The President said this festival motivates people to protect the environment. She expressed hope that this festival will bring joy to people's lives and increase respect for nature.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar also extended his greetings to the nation on the occasion of Chhat Puja.
On social media, he expressed his hope that this festival will bring prosperity and blessings to everyone. He described the festival of Sun worship as a reflection of our deep connection with nature, along with celebrating the eternal tradition. The Vice President expressed hope that the blessings of Chhathi Maiya will guide the nation towards progress and prosperity.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the nation on the third day of Chhat Puja.
On social media, he said that the Chhat Sandhya Arghya festival symbolizes simplicity, restraint, determination, and dedication. He further wished that this festival would bring happiness, prosperity, and good fortune to everyone's lives.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha also greeted the people on the occasion of the Chhat Puja.
