Tripura CM urges eligible adults to get Covid booster dose

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha appealed to eligible adult people to get the Covid19 booster dose. 

 

Along with the entire nation, a 75-day campaign for administering precautionary dose of Covid vaccine started in Tripura from Friday (July 15).

 

Dr Saha inaugurated the state level initiative at the IGM Hospital vaccination centre today and urged eligible people to get receive the booster shot of Covid-19 vaccine for precaution. The Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the initiative.

 

The precautionary covid jabs will be available in all government health centres free of cost to people of 18 years and above.

 

According to sources, the precautionary doses will be available in around 1,400 Covid vaccination centers in the state.

 

At present, about 19 lakh 93 thousand 788 citizens of the state will be given the precautionary dose of the Covid vaccine and the state currently has one lakh 15 thousand 390 precautionary doses in stock.

 

Notably, 55 lakh 17 thousand 22 beneficiaries received Covid jabs in the state. 

 

On July 13, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced the Centre will provide free booster doses of Covid vaccines for the 18-59 age group at government vaccination centres under a 75-day special drive from July 15.

 

"Under the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, a 75-day free vaccination campaign will be conducted from July 15, in which all citizens above the age of 18 years will be given free vaccination doses at government centres", Mandaviya said in a tweet. 

 

Mandaviya thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this decision.
