Tripura Crush Meghalaya by 138 Runs in National Senior Women's Cricket Championship

Tripura continued their stellar performance in the National Senior Women’s Cricket Championship, as they crush Meghalaya by an emphatic 138-run in a match held in Haryana.

Demonstrating dominance with both bat and ball, Tripura solidified their position in the tournament, marking their third win in five matches.

An Impressive Total Led by Annapurna Das

Winning the toss, Tripura opted to bat first and posted a formidable total of 228 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

Former captain Annapurna Das anchored the innings with a crucial unbeaten 45 runs off 69 balls, including four boundaries.

At a critical juncture, when the team’s chances of crossing the 200-run mark seemed doubtful, Annapurna rose to the occasion with her responsible batting.

Other significant contributions came from opener Mouchaiti Debnath, who scored 36 runs off 58 balls with five boundaries, and vice-captain Hriju Saha, who also added 36 runs off 63 balls, hitting four boundaries.

Reshmi Nayak chipped in with a quick 24 off 36 balls, supported by skipper Tamanna Nigam’s 18 off 13 balls, which included three boundaries.

Priyanka Acharya’s explosive 17 off 9 balls with two sixes and Indra Rani Jamatia’s steady 15 off 36 balls added depth to the innings. The team also benefited from 21 runs in extras.

Meghalaya’s bowlers struggled against the determined Tripura batters, with Ruby Chettri picking up three wickets for 33 runs and Hajong claiming two wickets for 38 runs.

Meghalaya’s Batting Collapse

Chasing 228, Meghalaya’s innings crumbled under the pressure of Tripura’s disciplined bowling attack. The Meghalaya team managed only 90 runs before being bowled out. D. Dutta top-scored with 37 runs off 68 balls, hitting five boundaries, while Hajong and Ruby Chettri contributed 15 and 12 runs respectively.

However, their efforts were not enough to mount a serious challenge.

Tripura’s bowlers delivered an exceptional performance, led by Annapurna Das and Shiuli Chakraborty, who claimed three wickets each, conceding 16 and 22 runs respectively.

Puja Das also impressed with figures of 2 wickets for just 6 runs.
