Tripura make history: First-ever Agarwood Oil export to UAE takes flight

A new chapter in the Tripura's Agarwood trade was scripted as a consignment of Agarwood Oil was exported to UAE.

For the first time, agarwood oil  worth Rs 25 lakh was exported by Mamon Enterprises, a company based in Kadmtala under North Tripura district. The company is headed by Anfur Ali. The agarwood oil was imported by M/S Fragrance Force Central Trading LLC of the UAE.

The export of agarwood oil was completed after completing all the necessary procedures, including obtaining an no-objection certificate (NOC) and customs clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of the Government of India.

It is worth noting that Tripura has a large number of agarwood trees and about 15,000 families depend on agar cultivation. The Tripura government has already formulated an agarwood policy to promote the trade of agar.

Owing to continuous effort by the state government, the Government of India has announced a quota of 25,000 kilograms of agarwood chips and 1,500 kilograms of agarwood oil for export.

From now on, regular initiatives will be taken to export agarwood chips and oil from the state to foreign countries. This initiative will encourage agarwood producers and traders in the state.

Local traders are optimistic and believe that the Agarwood sector will emerge as the prime driving force of State's economy. While 15 thousand families are looking forward to earn better, the sector has the potential of creating employment opportunities for the youths of the State.
