Tripura: Manik's jibe at Dr Manik on 'Sushasan' after attack on CPIM workers

Leader of the Opposition in Tripura and CPIM Politburo member Manik Sarkar took a jibe at Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha over the prevailing law and order condition and questioned much hyped ‘Sushasan’ campaign of the government as CPIM supporters continue to come under attacks.

On Sunday night (Nov 21), a group of bike borne miscreants, allegedly BJP supporters, attacked CPIM supporters while the latter were preparing for a rally at Camper Bazar area. The rally was organized by CPIM Badharghat Local Committee.

In the attack, two CPIM supporters – Sujoy Sarkar and Babul Banik – sustained injuries and later they were taken to GB Hospital. According CPIM sources, BJP backed goons wearing black masks and helmet came in bikes and attacked the CPIM activists.

Manik Sarkar vehemently condemned the attack and said, “More than 35 goons owing allegiance to BJP attacked our party workers while they were preparing for a peaceful rally. This is the real picture of ruling government’s ‘Sushasan’ campaign in Tripura”.  He also went to meet the injured party supporters at GB Hospital today.

Firing another verbal salvo at the ruling party, Sarkar contradicted the Chief Minister’s statement over ‘good law and order’ condition and said, reports of political violence every day across the State is showing opposite of what the Chief Minister claimed. CPIM supporters are regularly being targeted and attacked by the goons.

He urged party workers, supporters and common people to be united against the ruling party to bring an end to the political violence which is continuing under BJP regime.  Sarkar also appealed to people to raise voice against BJP’s attempt to silence the voice of dissent.
