Tripura News: Chief of Agartala Benuban Bihar no more

The principal of Agartala Benuban Bihar, Akshyanandan Bhikkhu passed away on Tuesday. He was 80 years old. Pall of gloom descended among the local people as well as Buddhist community people at the demise of the Chief of Agartala Benuban Bihar. 

 

On Behalf of Buddha Sangh, Shratoranjan Khisa said, Akshyanandan Bhikkhu fell ill a few days ago and was admitted in a private Hospital. He tested Covid positive in the Hospital and was found to be suffering from heart-related ailments. He breathed his last today.

 

Today, a mortuary van brought his mortal remains to Benuban Bihar in Agartala from the hospital. Buddhist Monks paid their homage to the departed soul.

 

His last rites will be held at Ratanpur Buddha Moth in South Tripura District adhering to Covid protocols, Khisa said.

 

Meanwhile, ADC chairman Jagadish Debbarma and Chief Executive Member Purnachandra Jamatia paid tributes and expressed sympathy to all the Buddhist people. In a statement Debbarma and Jamatia said, we are deeply saddened at the demise of chief of Agartala Benuban Bihar.
