Tripura News: Dr Ila Lodh passes away
Eminent Obstetrician-gynecologist of Tripura Dr Ila Lodh passed away on Monday afternoon after a brief illness in a private hospital in Kolkata. She was 79 and is survived a son and a daughter. She was suffering from kidney related complications.
Dr Lodh, one of the leading Obstetrician-gynecologists of Tripura. She also held the position of Health Director for a fairly long time. Originally hailed from Khowai, Dr Lodh studied medicine in Dibrugarh Medical college.
Born in a poor family of Dwijendralal Choudhury of Khowai, she was a brilliant student from childhood. Her cousin Prafulla Kumar Choudhury, an eminent businessman of Kamalpur stood by her side and helped in completing her medical education.
After that it was sheer brilliance and commitment that made Dr Ila Lodh a household name in the state. It is said she often sprang miracle with extremely critical delivery cases.
For some of her extraordinary successes, she also attained international acclaim and was invited abroad to deliver lectures. A pall of gloom descended in the state after the news of her death spread.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb expressed condolence at the demise of the popular doctor.
