Tripura News: Govt not to allow syndicate raj, CM says after visiting ISTT at Jirania

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb trained his guns against the syndicate raj and factionalism. The Chief Minister said this after visiting the Inter-State Truck Terminal (ISTT) at Madhab Bari under the Jirania sub-division in West Tripura on Sunday. He also visited Railway Yard at Jirania on Sunday. Among others, Transport Minister Pranajit Singha Roy was present accompanied him. Deb said, the incumbent State Government is committed to working with transparency as well as for the welfare of people engaged in Goods Transport.

He said, “Syndicate Raj and factionalism will not be allowed in any sector in the State. The Government is committed to conducting its activities with transparency.”

“Several complaints on ISTT and Railway Yard have been raised and I have come here to inquire about those”, Deb said and added, the State Government would undertake the responsibility of the management of the ISTT and Goods transport after discussions with concerned Associations and organizations. He also directed the Transport Minister and other concerned officials to this end.

The Chief Minister also attended an administrative meeting and inquired about the current administration and management procedures of ISTT. Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and other officials detailed existing procedures and facilities. The meeting also focused on improving management and infrastructure facilities at the Terminus.

Referring to allegations pertaining to factionalism and deprivation, the Chief Minister said, we have received several such allegations which are not at all desirable, at least during the ongoing crisis-ridden period.

“In the wake of Corona Pandemic, workers engaged in the transport sector are facing multiple problems – even, many of the truck owners are finding it difficult to pay installments of Bank loans. The State Government is vigilant to ensure that workers involved with the transport sector, truck drivers and owners do not face deprivation or partiality”, Deb commented and added, the State Government wants everyone to earn with transparency through a transparent system.

Meanwhile, the secretary of the Transport Department, Sriram Tarani Kanti submitted proposals for improving the infrastructure of the Inter-State Bus Terminus at Madhab Bari including setting up a CNG Station, Digital Payment facilities etc.
