Tripura News: Killings of minor siblings, accused confesses crime, people demanding capital punishment
In connection with the killings of minor siblings in South Tripura on Thursday, Police arrested one person, Sugrib Tripura after he confessed his crime. He was detained as a suspected killer earlier.
In the face of police interrogation, the accused confessed his heinous crime-- the sensational murders of two siblings Hridoy Dey (13) and Rita Dey (12) of Belonia under South Tripura district.
Both the minors had gone missing from Wednesday. Finally, the bodies of the duo were found floating in a water body at Gabtali of Indiranagar village in Rajnagar on Thursday.
According to PR Bari police, the accused- Sugrib Tripura detailed the entire incident as to how and why he had killed both the minors.
In his confession, the accused said that he had attempted to rape the minor girl in a jungle where the duo went for grazing their cattle.
Sugrib continued and said, noticing the incident, Hridoy attempted to save his younger sister. However, the accused overpowered Hridoy and strangled him to death. After killing Hridoy, the accused decided that keeping Rita – an eyewitness – alive will call trouble. So in attempt to conceal his heinous crime, Sugrib also strangled Rita to death.
The accused then went on to confess that he had carried the bodies of siblings on his shoulder and threw them to the water body in the jungle, one and half kilometre away from the place of murder.
The accused was on Friday produced before a local court and he was sent to judicial remand for 14 days. Sub-Inspector Ujjwal Saha of P.R. Bari police station is investigating the case.

Parents of the siblings - Sadan Dey and Rinku Sarkar Dey – are demanding capital punishment of Sugrib. Echoing the same, local people are also demanding death penalty for Sugrib and the demand is gaining momentum in Belonia sub-division, sources claimed.
