Tripura News: Pragati and Holy Cross Schools Advance to Semis in Inter-School Cricket

In the Tripura Cricket Association-organized Inter-School T-20 Cricket Tournament, Agartala based Pragati Vidyabhawan and Holy Cross School emerged victorious in their respective quarter-final matches, securing their places in the semi-finals.

On Wednesday, at the Taltala School Ground, Pragati Vidyabhawan showcased their prowess by defeating Sri Krishna Mission School by a margin of 76 runs. Batting first, Pragati set a formidable target of 208 runs, with Bikram Debnath shining with a scintillating century of 130 runs off 62 balls. His knock earned him the ‘Best Player’ of the match.

Despite the best efforts of Sri Krishna Mission School, they were restricted to 132 runs for 8 wickets in their 20 overs, succumbing to the pressure of the huge target. Anshuman Nandy top scored for them with 38 runs, while Arish Majumdar and Pranjit Bhaumik contributed 20 and 16 runs, respectively.

Pragati Vidyabhawan's bowlers did a commendable job, keeping the Sri Krishna Mission School batsmen in check. Ankit Das and Suraj Som picked up 2 wickets each.

On the same day, at the Narsinghgarh Panchayat ground, Holy Cross School defeated Henry Derozio School by 6 wickets. After winning the toss, Holy Cross School successfully chased down the target of 133 runs set by Henry Derozio School, with their captain Digvijay leading the charge with a score of 47 runs.

For Henry Derozio, Soumyaranjan Pal scored 28 runs off 37 balls with 2 boundaries, Rajdeep Debnath scored 26 runs off 22 balls with 4 boundaries, Ujjayan Barman scored 23 runs off 15 balls with 1 boundary and 2 over-boundaries, and Shahin Zaman Chowdhury scored 11 runs off 11 balls with 2 boundaries. Adrita Dey of Holy Cross School took 3 wickets for 23 runs.

In reply, Holy Cross School chased down the target with 4 balls remaining. Digvijay, the captain of the team, scored 47 runs off 39 balls with 7 boundaries. Ankan Chowdhury scored 31 runs off 26 balls with 2 boundaries and 2 over-boundaries, Debjyoti Pal scored 28 runs off 30 balls, and Debraj Dey scored 11 runs off 9 balls with 2 boundaries. Soumyaranjan Pal of Henry Derozio School took 2 wickets for 15 runs.
