Tripura: POCSO accused re-arrested after escaping from Jail
Within 18 hours after a under trial person escaped from the Jail in Tripura, Police re-arrested the absconding accused on Friday (Nov 25).
The accused who was booked under the POCSO Act escaped from the Unakoti District Jail on Thursday (Nov 24).
The under-trial person, Arid Ali, ran away while being shifted from the Court to the Jail yesterday.
Immediately Tripura Police swung into action and launched a massive manhunt. Meantime, Police intercepted that Arid Ali’s sister will hand over money to him. Accordingly, Police followed her today morning in disguise and traced the location of Ali at Nurpur. Later Police force led by SDPO Kailashahar arrested Arid Ali from the Nurpur area.
In this connection, a separate case was registered against Ali at Kailashahar Police Station.
The accused Arid Ali is a resident of Pakhirbada village in Kailashahar. He abducted a minor girl from Baburbazar area under Irani police station and raped the girl on October 25 last this year. Based on a complaint, Police arrested the accused on October 27 last and produced him before the local Court. Later, the Court sent the accused to Jail remand.
On November 24, he was taken to the Court for the hearing of the case. After returning from the Court, Arid Ali gave Police a slip while the accused persons were being handed over to the Jail.
Even as Policemen chased him and many local people saw him running away, Arid Ali managed to hide leading to an intense manhunt by the security personnel. Ultimately, he was nabbed in less than 24 hours. Local people sighted relief at the arrest of an accused booked under the POCSO Act.
