A group of people, allegedly owing allegiance to Tipra Motha did it again – after Taidu and Jampuijala, they created mayhem at Simna under West Tripura District. Taking a stern action, Police arrested 10 persons.
And, Janajati Welfare Minister Rampada Jamatia had to, once again, face the angry people today.
Intriguing it may, the angry people were shouting ‘Patal Kanya Go Back slogan’ even though she was not present at the spot. However, after noticing the absence of Patal Kanya Jamatia – the State BJP vice president at the spot – the protestors did not stop but continued aggressive protest giving security personnel a hard time in keeping the Janajati Minister safe and secured.
According to a Police press release, "The Police had to use mild force including firing of Tear Gas shells to disperse the unruly mob and rescued the Hon'able Minister and other leaders unhurt. So far, 10 persons have been arrested. A specific case has been registered on the basis of a suo-moto complaint. Stringent action will be taken against the leaders and supporters who are indulging in instigating innocent tribal people especially women".
On earlier occasions, MP Rebati Tripura first came under such protest at Taidu and later both Rampada Jamatia and Patal Kanya Jamatia faced agitators. This followed another aggression at Jampuijala on June 9 in which Rampada and Patal Kanya were attacked and their vehicles were vandalized in stone pelting. Prompt Police action helped them escaping the aggressive protestors, allegedly owing allegiance to Tipra Motha. On both the occasion, protestors raised ‘Patal Kanya Go Back’ slogan.
On Friday, Janajati Welfare minister Rampada Jamatia similar situation at Simna when he went to attend an administrative camp there. Tension ran high at Simna constituency in West Tripura district after a large group of people launched an agitation after BJP minister Rampada Jamatia reached Darogamura School to attend a programme.
The protestors got engaged in scuffling with the policemen and the police had to fire tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.
“A health and administrative camp was organized at Darogamura School in Simna assembly constituency. As soon as the Janajati Welfare minister reached the spot, a large group started agitation,” said Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Mohanpur- Kamal Majumder.
Meanwhile, deployment of security personnel in adequate numbers helped manage the situation. The situation was tense but well under control.
The SDPO added that a policeman and two others were injured in stone pelting by the agitators and police had fired tear gas shells to disperse the mob.
Meantime, BJP state vice-president Patal Kanya Jamatia held Tipra Motha responsible for the whole incident.
