Something very much shameful, audacious and highly condemnable things happened to a lady doctor who is known for her altrustic care for Covid19 patients – ironically, such unthinkable and disgraceful acts were committed against her by some Covid19 patients. A bunch of senseless Covid19 patients behaved unbelievely with the lady doctor working at a Saheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel Covid 19 care centre and had been verbally and physically abused by the infected patients.

A section of errant patients, in order to prevent any additional entry to their block, first attempted to turn away the doctor and when she tried to convince them, they collectively spat on her—a reminder of the behaviours of the Tablighis of New Dehi.

Not only this, one of the young guys went upstairs and expelled and spat out water from his mouth on the doctor. The incident evoked sharp criticism from every section of the society and also courted controversy.

According to sources, Dr Sangeeta Chakarborty, a dedicated Covid 19 warrior, who had been doing her duty at Saheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel had reached the Covid 19 care centre last night. She escorted five patients including Covid 19 infected mothers from Tripura Medical College, who were supposed to be admitted in the Bhagat Singh CCC for better treatment. Once she reached the spot, she had first faced resistance from a section of inmate patients.

Sources said, the inmate patients denied to allow any new entry in the hospital as they claimed there were no space left for new patients. After spells of hot altercation, the patients started hurling abuses on Dr Sangita and also threw slangs on her. Despite all this, the doctor tried to convince them politely but they readily refused to hear anything.

Some inmate patients later did something that many people did not ever think of doing with their arch rivals. Before she could have taken any step or think something alternative to accommodate the five patients she had escorted, the patients collectively spat on her. Dr. Sangita, who was almost at her wit’s end tried her best to save herself but by that time the level audacity crossed all the limits. One of the young guys, identified by his yellow t-shirt, eyewitnesses said, went upstairs and spat on her  water from his mouth through the narrow space in the grill. She somehow managed to escape the spot and shifted the patients to GBP hospital after making immediate arrangements of beds for the patients.

However, the incident evoked sharp repercussions from the doctors’ fraternity and common people at large. ATGDA dubbed the incident extremely disheartening. “For whom we are fighting, for what we are working. The people who are behind this have set a new example of inhumanity when the entire world is struggling to save humanity”, an ATGDA members said.
