One retired medical practitioner was found engaged in illegal abortions at Udaipur under Gomati District in Tripura on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off District Magistrate of Gomati District, T K Debnath caught the retired doctor red handed while he was conducting illegal abortions at his private chamber today.
The doctor was identified as Dr. Bishnu Chandra Dey. He was caught in his own private clinic opposite to Kiran Petroleum Agency and at back side of UBI branch in Udaipur.
It was around 1 pm and Dr. Dey was busy with some of his clients. Those people went to Dr Dey’s private clinic for abortion of some women.
At that time DM T. K. Debnath and his team reached at the clinic. The visiting team found the doctor on wrong foot and he was caught red handed. Several women was found at his clinic who came there for abortion.
Later, a lady doctor reached the spot and found some women lying in unconscious condition. The women were immediately shifted to hospital. However, number of women found in the clinic could not be ascertained.
Local sources alleged that Dr. Dey had been practicing this illicit business since long. Observing the illegal activities, DM informed the Subdivision Medical Officer. It was reported that Dr Dey was conducting feticide at an abandoned room.
“Dr Dey was running the illegal business for quite a long time – even lockdown could stop him practicing his unethical and unlawful activities. It is obvious that the Doctor would charge a hefty amount for carrying out such illegal acts. At last the administration has raided the clinic. We hope that the errant doctor would be punished”, a local resident of the area commented.
An inquiry against the doctor had been initiated. The administration would take legal action against the accused Doctor very shortly, highly placed sources said.
